THE VIRTUAL 5GFORUM OPENS REGISTRATION AND PUBLISHES ITS AGENDA

It will bring together virtually all the main experts, multinationals and 5G operators on 6th and 7th May

The 5G Virtual Forum will bring together the main experts, multinationals and operators on 6th and 7th May to review all the news around 5G, share opinions and network.

The 5GForum Virtual is a unique opportunity to learn about the latest advances in the field of 5G, from professionals and large companies such as Samsung, Vodafone Business, Cisco, 5Genesis, Intracom Telecom, Huawei, Hispasat, Impulsa Visión RTVE, Nokia and Axión, sponsors of the event.

“The cancellation of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and many other world mega-fairs, has prevented a meeting place where all the agents of development in the world of 5G can share their experiences, their proposals, their ideas and their progress. And 5GForum 2020 will be, says Ricardo Medina, CEO of Medina Media Events.

For this purpose, Medina Media Events, organizer of the event, has enabled a platform from where the registered people will be able to follow the sessions by streaming, as well as consult demos and do networking, even organizing video-meetings with speakers and attendees.

The 5GForum counts on the support and participation of the main speakers of the central government and European organizations. Peter Stuckmann, Head of Unit Future Connectivity Systems at the European Commission, will open the main 5G event in Spain, and the first virtual one.

Maite Arcos, the Director General of Telecommunications and Audiovisual Communication Services Management, will also welcome all virtual attendees to the event.

Federico Ruiz, Director of the 5G National Observatory (ON5G), will follow with a report on 5G at such a key moment.

5G USE CASES, FROM THE HAND OF LARGE MULTINATIONALS

David Cierco, General Manager of Red.es, will introduce the participation of Vodafone Business which, through the General Manager of Companies of Vodafone Spain, Daniel Jiménez, will show some of the 32 practical cases of use in which the operator is applying the benefits of 5G technology in the sectors of energy, industry, smart cities, tourism, agriculture, health and dependence, security, emergencies and defence, society and digital economy.

Other large multinationals such as Cisco, through José Ángel López Mayoralas, Head of Solutions Validation Services, will present the use case of Rakuten: the first software based 5G mobile network.

Samsung Networks Europe will also participate for another year. Daniel Borrás, Director of Marketing and Business Development, will present the vision of the Korean multinational.

On the other hand, Nokia, with the help of Álvaro Villegas, Director of Nokia Bell Labs in Spain, will present different cases of use of 5G, such as an “immersive telepresence” project and another one about remote driving.

Intracom Telecom will also participate in the first day of the 5G Virtual Forum, and its Vice President of Sales in Iberia and Italy, Ercole Rovida, will talk about the role of “megatrends” in the future of 5G.

In addition, the 5GENESIS project will present the most cutting-edge tests they have developed, including those carried out with security forces such as the local police in Malaga. Pedro Merino, Director, and Óscar Fajardo, CEO of Nemergent Solutions, will present it.

VISION OF THE OPERATORS, EUROPEAN PROJECTS AND SITUATION IN SPAIN

The second day of the 5G Virtual Forum 2020, will open with José Capote, Director of Integrated Solutions of the Operators Business Unit of Huawei Spain, who will present his vision on 5G and use cases. He will be followed by Telefónica, represented by Mercedes Fernández, Innovation Manager; and Orange, with Luis Delgado, 5G Program Manager.

Hispasat, led by Inés Sanz, Customer Engineering Manager, will explain why the satellite is key to bringing 5G to remote areas. On the other hand, Axión will give a brief introduction to the coverage systems in areas with a high density of users.

In addition, the pan-European 5G-IA project will give an overview of the pan-European 5G experiences, represented by one of its Board Members, Carles Antón-Haro.

One of the H2020 projects, Locus, will be presented by Raquel Barco, Vice Chancellor of the Smart Campus of the University of MálagaThe Polytechnic University of Valencia will also be present, with Narcís Cardona, Director of the i-Team.

The linear dissemination of content through 5G networks will be a topic addressed by Impulsa Visión RTVE, specifically by Esteban Mayoral, Deputy Director of Management of Impulsa Visión RTVE’s Innovation Center, Adolfo Muñoz, Director of Networks and Broadcasting of RTVE, María del Carmen Aguayo, professor at the University of Málaga, and David Jiménez, student at the University of Málaga.

Pere Vila, Director of Technological Strategy and Digital Innovation of RTVE will also present the new activities of RTVE in the area of 5G.

On behalf of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), based in Switzerland, Elena Puigrefagut, Senior Project Manager of the EBU, will participate to talk about the project “5G Media Action Group (5G-MAG)” that has recently been launched by European public televisions.

Antonio Fernández-Paniagua, Deputy Director General of Radio Spectrum Planning and Management, and the Ministry’s leading expert in 5G technology, will speak about the situation of 5G in Spain and the process of liberalisation of the second digital dividend.

The 5GForum Virtual also has the support of collaborators such as EXTENDA (Trade Promotion Agency of Andalusia), Grupo Solutia, the University of Malaga (UMA), the Official College of Graduates and Technical Engineers of Telecommunications of Andalusia (COITTA-AAGIT), AOTEC, AVA Foundation, Cities Forum and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).
