VIRTUAL 5GFORUM: THE SATELLITE, KEY TO BRINGING 5G TO REMOTE AREAS

30/03/2020

“5G and the satellite, the perfect alliance to extend connectivity everywhere” is the title of the keynote to be given by Hispasat, with Inés Sanz, at 5GForum 2020, which will be held on 6th and 7th May in a completely virtual way.

Hispasat will present the advances in the new 3GPP standard to efficiently incorporate satellite communications in the 5G ecosystem, as well as the activities in 5G projects where the satellite plays a key role to extend the coverage where there is no or insufficient terrestrial infrastructure.

These include Project Darwin, which focuses on the development of connectivity solutions in mobility environments for the connected vehicle, as well as the final conclusions of Project Energy5 for Smart Grid applications, where satellites make it possible to deploy and operate very high reliability and availability power networks in remote and isolated areas.

The official agenda of the 5GForum 2020 will offer more than 20 keynotes and several “panel sessions”, including the participation of Hispasat, and will also organize “virtual meeting rooms” for those registered to hold 15-minute meetings with the “speakers” or other “attendees” with whom they want to establish contact and propose business opportunities.

In the next few days, the organisers of 5GForum 2020 will announce the participation of the multinationals, companies and universities that have already confirmed their support as sponsors in this pioneering event which, in the face of the unstoppable number of fairs and conventions that have already been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, is holding its annual meeting, this time virtually.
